Winter Draughts
Cold draughts ruin curing paste. Blasts from open bay windows dry edge seams too fast while damp plaster beneath stays cold, which splits joined seams apart within hours. When executing wallpapering in Brent during chilly winters, we keep internal doors shut and avoid portable fan heaters that bake room air into arid deserts. Wet paste needs steady, unhurried indoor warmth.
Summer Humidity
Muggy weather delays paste curing. Heavy paper absorbs moisture from thick summer air, stretching out sideways before it grips the backing size on your wall. If you hang strips during a thunderstorm, joints might bubble up like damp cardboard. Keeping windows cracked just an inch lets sticky humidity drift out gradually, letting water evaporate naturally without curling sheet borders.
Avoiding Radiator Heat Blasts
Do not crank boilers high. Scorching steel radiators shrink damp cellulose backing instantly, exposing bright white plaster lines between darker feature strips. Keep radiator valves set low on installation morning. Let the whole room reach an even, moderate temperature so paste binds into masonry calmly. Slow curing leaves flat, tight joints across every wall span.
